5 Biggest Relationships From Saudi Arabia

A stacked card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, unfolded on Saturday with some memorable bouts. I assumed Bloodline was going to steal the show, which didn’t happen at all because we didn’t see the return of Paul Heyman.

Instead, an injection of Sami Zayn provided the substance that added another layer to the ongoing saga. Here are the five biggest tips from WWE Crown Jewel 2024.

Goldberg announces plans for a retirement match

OK, this didn’t happen in Saudi Arabia, but news broke during Crown Jewel. WWE and WCW legend Goldberg was a guest on ESPN’s College Gameday, where he announced that he will have a retirement match in 2025.

Goldberg teased Gunther as his opponent, a follow-up to their exchange from WWE Bad Blood in October. Does Goldberg make it through to his last match? We all know he shouldn’t, but we’ll have to wait and see how it develops.

The new bloodline wins and more…

Solo Sikoa pinned Roman Reigns for the win as the numbers game continued to improve from the original Bloodline. There was ongoing tension between Reigns and Jimmy Uso, and Sami Zayn came out to save Jey from a stinking chair and running face.

However, Zayn also mistakenly caught Reigns with a Helluva Kick in the middle of the ring to add some spice to his polarizing presence in the storyline.

Injecting Zayn back into the mix was a great idea to refresh the story, but at some point, another member will be needed for Survivor Series and I wonder if Sami Zayn will be the answer to the OGs.

Liv Morgan is the Crown Jewel Champion

There was no Tiffany Stratton cash-in, and in a slightly surprising move, Liv Morgan defeated Nia Jax to become the first female champion at Crown Jewel. Nia Jax won the Queen of the Ring, but it looked like she might have established herself as the most dominant female champion in WWE.

She’s earned it, but it was also nice to see Liv admit it. She has come such a long way as a complete performer.

First shot at Survivor Series?

The concept of Survivor Series Raw vs. Smackdown is building. We’ve seen some adversarial banter between Raw’s Adam Pearce and Smackdown’s Nick Aldis, but nothing physical. During the Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton match, KO hit Pearce with a log.

We could see Pearce tell Aldis that he is responsible for his Superstar’s actions, which could be the necessary groundwork to set something up for Survivor Series on November 30.

Cody wins the Crown Jewel Championship

I didn’t like the ending, but Rhodes winning over Gunther was similar to Liv winning over Nia. Gunther could have won and gone down as the most dominant champion in WWE, but instead, Rhodes won by taking a page out of Bret Hart’s book to get the win.

This ending may have been a hear-back to Gunther’s run-in with Hart during his feud with Zayn earlier in the year. When you consider that Gunther is also likely to be the opponent for Goldberg’s retirement match, he may be set to tangle with some legends as he defends his world heavyweight title.

Rhodes closed out Superstar of the Year as it is with another big win.
